Sponsorship Information

Thank you for your interest in Kettering Holiday at Home. Generous donations from individuals and businesses such as yours are essential for this organization to continue this traditional, annual Labor Day Weekend event. We sincerely hope you will choose to be one of our Sponsors this year.

What is the Kettering Holiday at Home Celebration?

Holiday at Home is a Labor Day weekend celebration for the family. It is packed with exciting, fun, safe, family-oriented activities designed to encourage people to stay at home and enjoy their family and friends over Labor Day weekend. It has grown since our beginning in 1959 from a small, neighborhood event into one of Ohio’s largest weekend events.

Events include:

The Miami Valley’s Largest Parade – As many as 100,000+ people have lined Far Hills Avenue in Kettering on Labor Day morning to watch the parade. This is certainly one of the highlights of the weekend.
Holiday at Home Scholarship Awards – These awards are given to a young man and young woman from the south suburbs in recognition of his/her Community Service as well as academic achievement. The award replaces the Miss Holiday At Home Pageant and the Community Service Award.
Holiday at Home Gala – The Holiday at Home Scholarship Award recipients and the Grand Marshal(s) are recognized at this event. The public is invited to join us in this special celebration to be held at the NCR Country Club.
Auto Show – This one-day (Monday) invitation only event draws collectors from around the tri-state area. They come to compete in what has become a must for competitors and spectators alike.A non-car display of unique and/or unusual vehicles occurs on Sunday.
Activities on Lincoln Park Commons – Each year thousands of people fill the Lincoln Park commons area to take in over 110 arts and crafts displays, children’s activities, over 30 food vendors, karaoke, live entertainment and much more. Estimates are that over 120,000 people will attend these events.
5K Run – Approximately 700 runners participate in this event. The event has proven so popular that we added an “Under- 10-years-old” category to accommodate the interests of even our youngest runners!

Your donation will help us continue to provide one of the most fun filled family weekend events of the year. Please complete the Sponsor Commitment Form and return it along with your check to:

2018 Sponsors

In years gone by, Holiday at Home could fund itself from entry fees, the collections received along the parade route, contributions at the fireworks, pee-wee football and other events, plus donated services and small monetary donations from numerous businesses and individuals in the Kettering and south suburban area.

All that has changed with the rising costs for supplies, insurance, awards and many other items. We, like other non-profit organizations, rely heavily on the generosity of our sponsors.

While we still accept cash donations along the parade route and other locations when appropriate, the majority of our funds now come from sponsors. We have seven levels of sponsorship available ranging from $30 to $5000. Please see the Sponsor Benefits tab for a complete list of benefits for each level.

Here now, with our grateful appreciation, are the Sponsors for the 2018 Holiday At Home Festivities.

A Brief History of Holiday at Home

The Holiday At Home celebration began on Labor Day, 1959, under the sponsorship of the Kettering YMCA which held the event to promote a membership drive. It was known then as “Kettering Day.” The YMCA board accepted a suggestion from President Robert Eichenlaub to plan a community parade and program. The events’ first year success was so great that it was deemed worthwhile to conduct for a second year.

Many leaders of the community and the YMCA worked together to organize a parade and evening program. From this well-organized beginning, Holiday At Home was refined and enlarged to the present Labor Day weekend festival that is now enjoyed by thousands of south suburban residents and visitors.

The name, “Holiday at Home”, was selected through a contest. It promotes the idea of staying at home over the holiday weekend, rather than becoming part of the large group of travelers at that time.

Kettering is used in the name to indicate the location; however, the festivities are intended for all of the communities south of Dayton. All southern communities and townships are invited to share in the Holiday At Home activities and to become part of the organization.
